I am getting cabin fever and may not be able to wait to take the car to the shop for help so I am looking to see how difficult this might be.
I have a racepak G2X GPS data logger that I am using for autocross and roadcourse driving analysis. I would like to hook up the rpm logging feature without having to go into the engine bay and tapping into the coil packs or otherwise. Is there anyplace inside the cockpit of the car to pick up such a signal? If so where and how? Pictures are always appreciated.
What is required is:
1) 50% duty cycle, 5-18 volt square wave.
2) Switched 12 volt/1 amp power (+ and ground)
Do a search for Tach Wire on ls1tech. The nitrous world uses it for the controllers. There are two other places to tap it other than the coil packs. One is under the dash near the steering column and the other is on the PCM located behind the front passenger wheel under a plastic panel. (white wire, pin 10 on C5s).
