Default Part I.D. and question?????

Just got back from the dealer and they have informed that when they tore my clutch apart they noticed that (the part) coming out of the front end of the torque tube that the clutch actuator cylinder slides over has been damaged, and inorder to replace it I have to buy an entire torque tube assembly. Is this true or are they just trying to get the $1700 out of me for the new assembly?
TIA

I believe they are right, I would want the whole part replaced. Not sure on the cost of the part though. I would gurantee that since the dealer is doing the work, they have to follow replacement guidlines and have to replace the whole part. Im sure you can just replace the worn part but im sure GM cant replace just that.

It sounds like what is referred to as the "quill". I can't get into my parts listing right now and can't see if it available as a separate item.

I called a friend of mine in Mountain Home, Ark and he is the head to the service department at Chevy. He said he'll take a look at it in the morning. Hopefully, I'll be able to purchase this part separately. I just my car back and then I'll have him start looking into some other mods.
