Default Stock Brake Pad Question

Does anyone know if the stock (2000) brake pads from GM are ceramic? I want to replace the pads with what came on the car, as I don't have any problems with dust or noise.
Thanks,

Don't believe they are. I think the ceramics were a creature of the aftermarket and offered by Raybestos, Bendix, etc.
I stayed with the stockers too. They do a good job on the dtreet. If it wasn't broke, I wasn't going to "fix" it.

Ceramics are available straight from GM or Delco as an OEM replacement pad.
They are quiet, dust very little and what there is is light colored so not as noticeable. They are supposed to fade a bit more under extreme conditions such as track events if that is important to you. Under street conditions they are fine.

Jeep,

No, that's wrong. The Z06 pads are a more aggressive semi-metallic pad than the OE pad, not ceramic.

Vetteman1,

The PFC OE replacement pads are very good as well, and could be significantly cheaper (run $50-60 per axle) than GM pads.

HTH, and have a good one,
Mike
