Default Need some help - STUPID AIR BOX

This may seem really stupid but the two hold down straps on my stock 2001 C5 airbox lid have become unclipped and I cannot figure out how to reattach these two bands.
I know people who go aftermarket with Blackwing's, FLIPK's, etc. do not have to worry about this but this is driving me crazy. What exactly is the "zip tie" mod? Would this get rid of these two band clamps?

Thanks for the help,

DKHIGHPERF

You can easily pull the entire oem intake system off and replace the bands where they're supposed to clip to. There are two attachment pins that hold the air cleaner assembly in place to the front metal bumper. They use rubber grommets, just like those that hold your oem air bridge to the radiator cover. They pop off with some pressure applied to the lid of the assembly applied towards the radiator. The grommet might stick to the pins, so remove them, re-attach them to the air cleaner lid and apply some light lubrication to ease re-installation.
This is much easier to do if you remove the bellows from the throttle body (clamp), disconnect any connections to your MAF and disconnect the air hose to the air cleaner assembly. This enables you to take the entire system out in one piece.
Basically, the "zip tie" modification is removing the top cover of your air cleaner assembly and using two large plastic or metal zip ties to hold the now exposed air filter into the bottom of the air cleaner assembly remaining in place.

Yea,,,I did the same thing that you did and had the same issues! I still have the scars! You have to pop off the entire airbox to get the straps back on. I used small zip ties in an X pattern to prevent that from ever happening again.

Default anothrt option

I had the same problem when putting on a K&N cause I had to put the seal in the v\cover.

Anyway I undid the 5 screw holding the fascia o\under the front bumper and reached up through there to put them back on but it was still a PITA
