Default oil pressure sensor problem ??

When I started my '99 today, the analog oil pressure gage went to the 80 PSI peg and stayed there. The digital oil pressure gage read 129 PSI. The engine was turned off then the key was put in the 'on' position. Analog gage stayed at 0 but the digital read 129 PSI (with the engine off !!). Used my OBD II diagnostic tester but no codes appeared. Since replacing the sensor requires removing the intake manifold, is there another solution to this problem ? Except for having no oil gages, will this condition cause any engine damage?

this could also be cause by the oil pump bypass pressure valve sticking closed.

I am having the same problem. I took the car in and the dealership replaced the PCM under warranty. But that did not fix the problem. So mine must be the oil sensor. I have been busy and was not able to take it back yet. Let me know what happens.

It seems like you will only get errors for low oil pressure.
