Default Warnings, warnings, warnings Problem

Ok, so I driving down the road when all of sudden the warning chime starts and the DIC lights up with failures for everything. Shocks, Tires, reduced power, you name it, I get the message, the radio turns off, the AC turns off, the windows and door locks dont work. So of course I am like wtf. When I get home I check the DIC for error codes and every single system has codes. I clear the codes and guess what, car is fine. Drive some more and it starts again, even though there are warnings for all the systems they are working except the radio, ac, windows and locks and the lights are out on the drivers side control panel on the door. Passenger side lights work and the window and door lock for that door work. So as I am driving a go into manual mode for checking for error codes, yes this works while youre driving, problably not the smartest thing to do, but I was on a side street. For those who dont know how to do this, Press and hold the options button and the hit the guages button 4 times. Well the message while I am driving is no NO COMM for every subsystem. So it looks like for some reason the system is having an intermident issue with communicating to all the subsystems for status, thus the warnings. I get home and I open the drivers door and I notice that when the door is all the way open, the drivers side buttons light up and now function. Close the door and the lights go out and no function. Has anybody had this problem or have any ideas where I should start to locate the problem?

Thanks!!
Chuck

Read the sticky at the top of the C5-Tech section on electrical problems. It is a wealth of information and a great place to start.

Here it is:

Chances are that such a dramatic series of error messages is the first sign that your battery is about to quit. if its the original AC Delco, best go for a preemptive replacement before it dies. Worse still it may leak.

intermitent signals can be linked to a short...check in the passenger side door boot where the harness goes to the door panel. sometimes there's an exposed wire or loose connection. right in the boot. had the same problem. all the warnings came on and the radio and passenger door wondow and lock would not work. (one good bump later or a "re-boot" of the ignition fixed it temporarily..) good luck. my thanks to bill curlee for the electric troubleshooting advise.. dave
