Default Air Intake Overload

The check engine light appeared on my 2000 C5 a few days ago. Yesterday, it would not start and the battery voltage was only about 3-4. So I replaced the battery, the car started and the the check engine light disappeared....only to reappear about 20 minutes later. There are two codes appearing. P0113 & P1111

P0113 - Intake Air Temperature (IAT) Sensor Circuit High Voltage

P1111 - Intake Air Temperature (IAT) Sensor Circuit Intermittent High Voltage

Now, I'm a little confused as to the meaning of these codes. Any chance this is a fancy way to say "change the air filter" If so, I've taken care of that this morning. The car seems to run fine, but the light is still on. Please advise if this is more serious than I'm think.

per the shop manual, the condition for setting P0113 is that the intake air temperature is less than -35C (-31F) for at least 4.5 seconds.

Likely causes ('cause cold air induction isn't going to account for a -31F reading) are:

Poor connections
Mis-routed harness
Rubbed through wire insulation
Broken wire inside the insulation.

These pertain to an intermittent. Since you got one hard set, and one intermittent, my guess is on an intermittent.

The IAT sensor is located in the air intake passage - I think it's in the air bridge bellows or near there. Check for wire damage, and for a solid connection.
