Hi guys.
I finished my Alpine install in my C5, with help from you guys, thanks. It went fine, or so I thought. I couldn't find a switched power source, so I just gave it constant power. Then after leaving the car for a week, I find the battery dead. Upon charging the battery, I hear the head unit lightly humming. Can I assume that it was related to attaching constant power where switched was required? (I hope I didn't ruin my radio!)
Thanks!
(MODS- I posted this in the General forum also, by mistake)
Probably what you are hearing is a small cooling fan in the back of the Alpine deck that is on all the time because of the way you have your power wired. You can find a switched 12v source in the fuse box in the passenger footwell, that is where I got mine from. As far as hurting the deck, I doubt that you did but you need to correct the wiring before you do.
