I am adding a set of LG streets very shortly. Should I do Heads or a cam next? I would like to see around 450 RWHP or so. Any suggestions regarding either? Budget is limited.
Budget is limited and 450rwhp don't mix. Speed cost money. It will take good headers, heads, cam, underdrive pulley, better pushrods, LS2 timing chain, p&p LS6 oil pump while you are in there, at least a LS6 intake with a p&p throttle body or better yet, a Fast 90/90 setup. Some people have got to 450 rwhp without the 90/90 but had to use a larger cam and sacrificed some drivability.
You might as well get ready to upgrade your clutch also if you are a 6sp. My stock clutch didn't last long after more hp.
It is the right combination of parts that get hp and tq with reliability and drivability!!
I agree with AU... wait and do both. However, if you have the patience to DIY, cam only will give better results than heads only, and it's way cheaper if you DIY.

I couldnt agree more! Im in the middle of doing a heads cam swap to my 99 right now. Im using an LS6 though. As far as intakes go I belive the LS6 will support 450-475. Anything more than that then i would go to a FAST. The best advise i got was if you save the money for the labor install thats that much more you can spend on parts to make it go fast.
