Default Question about dropping driveline

I'm getting ready to drop the driveline in my '00. (getting a new 402)

The book that I have tells me to remove the rear halfshafts. I can't see why I need to do that, since I'm not going to touch the rear.

Any ideas/hints??

So that the brake lines can pass as the rear is lowered.

The January and February 2007 issues of Corvette Fever have a picture article concerning the removal of the power train from the C5.
Good luck!.
