Default Need some help getting into performance mods

Hi.

I have been considering bumping up the performance of my CE Vert just to get a little extra zip out of it and make this wonderful experience a little more fun.

I am considering taking it to Vette Doctors for either an SC or their RX450 package. I have no plans to race the car and I do not really push the car very hard.

What I am wondering is how either of these options affects the engine's reliability. I have a GMPP for the next two years and 20K+ miles.

If I did either of these things would I void my warranty and would I turn what has been a trouble free ride (except for the fuel guage issue) into a problem car? Just how far can you go with performance before you jeopardize reliability?

Thanks

It all depends on how you drive the car. Many on here with sc's have extensive miles on them, and they have been tested and proven througout history to be reliable. EVeryone drives their cars differently though. Remember, you always take a risk of problems when you start doing performance modifications. Most mods if installed correctly, will cause little to no problems.

dont open the engine up if you want to keep your gmpp valid. only simple bolt ons. they will give that extra zip. air intake, long tube headers, and a tune is bullet proof simple bolt on mod affair. it will not effect reliability at all. prob get up to 45 horse gain with a set up like this.

Which air intake do you recommend, just bought an 04 coupe and it has the headers. I am also thinking about a high flow exhaust system

I like the 4.10 rear ratio for 6 speed cars. 3.42 for A4s. Costs less than engine mods and I think a better choice for our GMPP.

Forum vendor CajunDude would be a good first place to look. It should come with a green filter, which is very similar to a K&N.

I HIGHLY recommend either package by The Vette Doctors.....you will absolutely love it! I loved my Rx-450 that they did for me 6 years ago sooooo much that I then had them do the Rx-SC package on top of my existing Rx-450!!!! Speak with Carmen about your goals and he will point you in the right direction. He can also set you up with the airbox and LT's.......all part of the package anyway!!!! Give me a shout if you have any questions.
