Loose A4 shifter-anyone else had this problem?
Has anyone had a problem with their automatic shift such that the selection is off? I had a problem with it not shifting properly and no first gear. I thought I was in park, it was not so it won't start. Thanks to Stangkiller, he found the problem. As it turned out the bushing on the transmission end of the shift cable broke so only half remained. Has anyone else had this problem?

this may be an indication for a bigger problem, it is possible your EBCM is going bad applying the brakes without your knowledge, this is putting excessive strain on the transmission, and the cable will be the first thing to get loose, it happened to me

I don't think that we are talking about the same thing. What you are talking about would be internal components. I was talking about the shift cable from the console to the automatic transmission.
