Hi All,
I just installed a set of callaway plug wires on my 98, I also have a blackwing intake, power tube,Corsa ( Indy ) exhaust, bosch platnum +4 spark plugs, and the coolent bypas tube . The car is a A4.
Ok, what I'm getting at is, after I put on the callaway plug wires on I seam to have lost some power and throttle responce. Dose anyone have the callaways on there C5, and what do you think of them. I'm thinking of putting back on the stock wires. I have not had a dyno so I do not know forshure if I have lost or gained anything. But the car dose feel dif. Any sugestion on Plugwires? Any help would be greatfull !!!!!
Thanks

Naaa,,,plug wires are plug wires. If you purchased walmart brand or $900. dollar a set brand, they do the exact same thing! I would check your DTC's to see if you are having any malfunctions.
This is the absolute best C5 Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) web site!!!
Go to “technical data base” and then to “Corvette ECM Computer Codes”. Then select your year car. Read the instructions and then scroll down to the "READ MORE" window to view the code definitions.\
Thank you much !!!
I just went and tried it. It went through all the test and it came up with no codes anywere. So it must just be all in my head. I guess I'm trying to justify the $95 bucks I spent on the wires ( LOL ).
the stock wires had about 2k ohms in them, the callaways knocked that down to about 185 and the msd's should knock that down to under 50. the less ohms in the wire, the less resistance to getting the voltage to the plug.
So Seazy Rider, By what you are saying the callaways should work better then Stock ? I shure thank you guys for all the info! But I went and put the Stock wires back on this morning... and I have to say the car just feels better with the Stock wires. But no two cars or engines run alike so it might be just the car, or it could be just me. In Callaways diffence... I did call them today ( they were VERY nice ) and they said they have never had a set returned in the 3 years they have been selling them. I asked them If I could be be doing anything wrong ( they didn't think so ). They did offer to take them back but I did not want to brake there track record for something that could very well be just me and not the wires. Anyway if anyone knows some one who would like a new/used set ( used only once ( for about 25 miles ) of Callaway plug wires for a C5 let me know. I will let them go for $50, I'm in the Dallas Tx area, or I will pay for shiping
theoretically, they should work better. what happens is that the more resistance in the wire, the harder it is for the coil to get the voltage to the plug. you might say that the resistance is resisting the flow of voltage through the wire and the coil has to work harder to move it through the line. in the single coil systems, that was a problem, putting more of a load on the coil. premature failure. but with the new coil-per-cylinder and short wires, this may not be a problem. last year i was having a slight miss with my 00' coupe so i replaced the wires with the callaways and changed to ngk spark plugs and did notice a difference and very pleased with the changes. we just bought an 03 Z right after christmas and the car already had the msd wires on it and have not noticed any problems. i will normally change the stock wires to msd as my first mod, as i do not like the resistance in them, sometimes 8K for the longer ones.
