I know obviously with longtubes you will make more power but does anyone have a H/C set up without longtubes?? Or are they pretty much a needed thing when you go heads and cam??
I did the same thing. It was very hard for the tuner to tune my car that way, but he found a way to tune it and the car ran fine. Then when I put headers on the car it gained over 50rwhp!
if you go over to ls1tech.com there is a cam the guys talk about that works great without headers..
I can't remember the specific cam...but I've read about it on the ls1/ls6 engine forum.
HTH
CheaTR cam from Thunder Racing. 214/230 .601/.578 117 LSA
Check out that exhaust duration! Get some rugged springs, too - the lift and ramp rate are killer on this bad boy.

I'm with you. Every time I ride in a vette with headers, it makes me glad I don't have them. I do too much driving to listen to all that noise. Maybe one of these days I'll look for some really thick walled LTs... and then wrap them!
I ran my H/C car without headers for a year Ti exhaust and gutted PUP cats main cats installed(2003 cat ex. manifold). The car was tuned and ran fine.
next year I added LG long tube and Blackwing, retuned and I got 11HP
this is with a small cam the 224/224 .568 lift slow ramp and ported LS6 heads. Other cam/head combos will be diff. this is an outdated cam
