i used teflon tape on the top elbow and it clocked just right. if you cannot get it to clock right, you may take the can apart and get the correct size pipe tap and go a tad deeper.
I snugged mine up using a cheesey rubber strap wrench, Was suprised how much they turned, also reopened to check the O ring to see if it was damaged it was not. Put it back together and snugged it up
Had the same problem-a little tape and bingo, problem fixed. I don't think you'll have a problem with the leak either. Mine is on really tight and theres enough thread so it's just not going to be an issue.
