for the past year i have the CEL light on, throwing code P0410 is there an easy way to fix or should i just have it program off.
any thought or great debate on this?
thanks
You have a problem with the air injection system. This code indicates there isn't any air being injected into the exhaust on both the left and right banks. Possibly you have a air pump problem, a pump relay problem or a wiring problem. Should be easy to check. After you first start the car do you hear a high pitch whining sound coming from the engine compartment for a few seconds? If so that is the air pump running which means the pump and relay are probably fine.
I have the same. I've had the check engine light on for about a year. I just never got around to looking at it. I bought the manuals recently to track it down, but haven't had the time to get under the hood.
Let me know if you find the culprit. According to the manual, it could be any number of items.
yup.. that code sucks!! has givin me some sort of grreif for a yr or so. the thing has not lit up the engine light for 3 months and lights it up today while pulling in to the dlr to get the wifes burb from the service dept. went in got the service writer and had him come look at it before turning it off cause mine goes in again monday to get new springs and have the rocking chair fixed. this code is one that cost gmpp something on mine. i have got new O2's, new check valve's ( by the way these are not easy you must remove the intake), had new wire harness put in part of the engine compartment ( they suspected a ground issue), new relay, and plenty of hrs spent in the service bay. i keep telling them i think its the pump full of water or going bad... oh well. i work there so aint no thing for me to drop her off in that driveway verses my side of the building. hey, someday i might get a new smog pump too
this is the problem, iam in texas and that's why i am thinking of having the dam thing program to be off, just wanted to know what the thoughts of the comumity on doing this.
thank for all response
The other known cause of P0410 is a break in one of the vacuum lines under the battery tray. Acid leaking from the battery can destroy the small vacuum line that leads to the AIR pump. (I think that the vacuum line from under the battery tray is the one that controls the AIR pump output. Bill Curlee's photos posted in the link above show that the output of the AIR pump is vacuum controlled.)
