Changing auto trans question.
When I bolt the pan back on the transmission do you use a gasket sealer on the gasket.Im worried about contaminating the inside of the transmission.Or just use the gasket alone. Thanks for help Jeff

Permatex gasket sealer would be acceptable in a water pump installation, but no, not in a transmission pan installation. The bolts that hold on the transmission pan are special and flanged (if memory serves me correctly), and they will be ruined if you over-torque them. Use a guide to show you the correct tightening pattern, and don't exceed the torque value, even if you have to go out and buy your own torque wrench! Don't use any sealer.
