Default Instructions for Installing Headlight Switch

The Vehicle : 1998 C5 Corvette Convertible

The Issue : Tail lights along with the dash (DIC) lights quit working about a month ago. Checked all 4 bulbs and they checked out fine. When I apply brakes, the brake lights come on without any problems. The hazard lights as well as the turn indicators work as well. However, when I turn on the headlights, the headlights come on but no tail lights or the DIC lights.

The Diagnosis : Took it to the dealership to see whats going on. After about an hour of diagnosis, the Tech says I have a bad Headlight Switch (GM ACDelco Part # 26075870). These are his exact comments: "Checked and found no power to Parking Lamps or DIC. Traced and found open circuit in Headlight Switch, causing no Park or Tail Lamps or Cluster DIC Backlights. Necessary to partially remove Headlight Switch and test for open circuit".

I was wondering if there is anything I could do to have the exiting Headlight Switch fixed, if Not, then how do I go about replacing it with a new one? If anybody has any written up instructions along with some illustration pictures, I'd greatly appreciate it.

Thanks.

Default Headlight switch

Try this thread it tells how to swap the switch. No pictures. Getting to the switch was not bad but getting the wire connection apart was a real PITA. They are down below the steering wheel. You have part number it looks like. It's now $168 at Fred Beans. Gene Culley had it for less it think...have to search him. Good luck
