Not sure about your answer SCannon but I'll bring this post up to the top for you. My factory water pump is beginning to leak and I'm wondering if it is worth the extra cost of upgrading to an electric pump or should I just buy a new factory unit from GM?
Just ground it, and pick a wire like your fuel pump wire as the power and your good to go. Or if you want to be able to circulate your water while the car is off just pick one of the other switched hot wires (under the fuse block) so that you can turn the switch on and the pump will run. And I would recommend using a relay also.

You can power the fuel pump and the water pump off the same wire? I thought the water pump would need its own power.
Yeah, if you want to half *** it Pick up a relay from radio shack or an automotive store and switch B+ to the WP and play it safe.. They draw a good amount of current so why take the risk?
