Anyone bent their shifter?

I have read that someone has bent their Ripper after doing some 1/4 mile passes. The driver even said that he wasn't powershifting. :eek:

Has anyone else done or heard anyone do this to an aftermarket or the stock shifter?

The shift rod is stainless steel. Seems like you would break the pivot first.

That makes a lot of sense. Maybe he got a bent one to begin with but never noticed it.

I can't imagine bending my Ripper. It is sooo stout.

Maybe he installed a Mustang shifter by mistake.

Yeah guys I'm serous i really did bend the shifter-right at the end the part that goes into the tranny. It must be the heat treating or something-I've never had that happen to me with any shifter i have ever had-either hurst ,kirban or pro-50-i even had the ripper in my last mustang with no problems. I do have 19" arms however but i don't care how strong I am there is no way i could bend that 1/2 rod. All i know is that it was fine when it went in-then after it got stuck in 4th at the track I had to drive it around to get into any other gears and it continued getting stuck when I came to a stop-it would stay in the last gear i was in. When I pulled it out and put the stock shifter in ,the tranny shifted fine except for the grinding in 3rd and 4th-but if i shift real slowly it's okay. go figure-my dealer is going to find out today what b&m is going to do about this.
