Default Alternator dissasembly question

On the back half of the alternator casing, there is a plastic bushing that the rear bearing sits in. It appears to maybe have a snap ring or something holding it in. Any tips of getting this out without breaking the plastic? This is off a 99', and it's the French made 110Amp alternator.

Does anyone know where I could buy the plastic part if I was to break it trying to press it out? I've seen these Alternators Chrome plated, so there has to be a way to get it out, or a place to buy the part. I doubt that GM would sell it since they don't sell this model of an alternator anymore (as I have been told).

take it to an alternator shop, they should be able to advise you on the part availability. when i polished my 89' alternator, there was a wire that gave me trouble while taking the cases apart so i took it to a shop. seeing as i was going to upgrade to 140 amp internals, they just snipped the wire, i polished the cases and took them back to the shop where they installed everything. that was 8 years ago, no issues with the alternator and have not had to replace the battery since then.

Well..............I did take it to a Alternator shop to have it disassembled, and they didn't want to try to take it out in fear of breaking it. I don't think they have ever done a C5 alternator before. Most of those kinds of shops deal with Truck Alternators and Starters I believe. I suppose I could try another shop.
Or just get it polished, then I wouldn't need to take it out. But I rather get it chromed so I don't have to polish it to keep it shiny.
