2000 Muffler
I have a broken muffler... The tailpipe is no longer attached so things are loose.. I am not interested in buying a new exhaust system at this point.. Can the muffler itself be replaced or do I have to buy it as a system? All the catalogs (that I have) sell only the whole system...starting at 799 and up.

The stock c5 mufflers last a long time but have essentially no value since so many people replace them with Z06/performance mufflers. You need to find one in your area. Keep your post to the top and someone may volunteer one to you.

will do...Where might I find the Z06 system?... I hear it is an "inexpensive" alternative...

I have some C5 mufflers that have been cut off from the "over axle" portion of the tubing. if you want I would send it your way for $10 over shipping.
I got them just to cut open and see what the inside looks like, but later found a picture of the inside of C5 muffler, so never cut them up.
