Transmission problem--Please help
Can someone with transmission knowledge help me diagnose this problem. I have a friend who has 98 corvette, automatic. The other night he was out and about and got into a race with a mustang. He beat the guy, went around and chatted for a while, and went home, no big deal. The next morning he went out and the car would not engage into reverse. He says that it feels like there are two neutral gears and that it will engage into the foreword gears, just no reverse. Anyone have any ideas?

I just wanted to update you on the problem. We took it to the dealer and they are telling us the "reaction shell" needs to be replaced. It is responsible for reverse and overdrive. I know someone from the forum e-mailed me and said they had the same problem but I have never heard of a "reaction shell". What is it???
