Headlight motor problem, PLZ HELP!
While putting my 98 m6 back together I noticed that my headlight motors don't want to work. The lights come on but the motors don't turn. When I manually give them power and ground they work. There are 2 harnesses that I don't remember unplugging, and don't see anywhere to plug them back in. When I use my 12v test light I can see that when the light switch is turned on, some of the pins change polarities. I know these plugs need to go somewhere, BUT WHERE? From the harness there is enough slack to extend them up to the passenger headlight, but nowhere to plug them in. The origin of the harness is near the front right control arm. Please help!
1 harness is a 5 pin
Orange
Green
Blue
Orange
White
Other harness is a 4 pin
Light Green
Dark Green
Light Blue
Dark blue

Did you reconnect the headlamp controller? Its mounted on the right frame rail just behind the right headlamp...on the '99's. I'm guessing its the same place on yours.

The colors match your description in general, but shows both connectors to be 5 pin. I agree with dgrant to start there.
Also consider, if the module is connected, if the two plugs you have are one male one female, they plug into each other. Wouldn't think they'd change colors in the connector though. Just thinking maybe it's a feed from passenger over to the driver side. Post what you find.

Don't you think he should plug the two loose connectors in before he starts checking fuses?

He said that when he turns on the lights the voltages on the two connectors switch polarities. What else would they go to? If the fuse was blown he wouldn't be getting the 12v and it wouldn't switch polarities. Connect the plugs to the headlamp motor actuator module, I'm betting you'll be just fine.

Ooooh the shame!
Since my car was apart for soooo long I forgot about the headlight control module (its been sitting in my cabinet for 2 months). I feel like such a schmuk sometimes...Everything works great, thanks a lot guys.
