OK ... I've used Comp Cam's pushrod length checker on my newly h/c engine (MTI 2E heads and 228/232 588/575). I'm using Comp's 7702 length checker with a range of 6.800 to 7.800.
When I get all the lash out I get 9 'sections' showing on the length checker, plus another 1/4 turn. So, 6.800 + (9)(.050) + (1/4)(.050) = 7.262. Assuming I need 0.080 preload, that means I need 7.342 pushrods. (I realize measuring it with a caliper will be best, and I'll do that ... just trying to get an idea of what I need). I have installed 7.400 as recommended by MTI, but if my measurements above are right, doesn't that mean I have well over 0.100" preload??? Maybe I'm not total on the base circle???
any updates on this lol im basically running the same cam but my lift is a bit higher .588 on intake and .595 on the exhaust. im stuck on 3 sizes 7.325 7.350 7.375 i have measured it like 12 times, im gonna keep going till i get it right.
