How do they support the Trans when the Diff is out? is that a safe practice?

The drive tube,trans,and diff are simply lowered (still attached to motor) with a trans jack under the trans,until the diff will clear the trunk under body.Then the diff is simply unbolted from the trans...

ok, the reason why I asked is because my installer didnt want to do that due to safety reasons. He has owned a "Corvette only shop for 30 years" I went along with it because I trusted him on that. This is why I have told everyone that you have to take the tranny off of the car to do the diff install.

The only precaution is that when lowering the complete assembly,that it is not lowered on an angle below the trunk hump (there is a big warning label on the drive tube with a diagram for how far to lower)...This prevents damadge to engine components due to contact with the firewall...Once lowered to the specific angle,the diff simply unbolts and slides off the trans output shaft. :yesnod:

My Hypertech programmer doesn't offer 3:73 programming but I was considering keying in 3:42 and a smaller tire size to get my speedometer close. Does this seem like a good idea and would it throw any codes? Could you suggest the right tire size to key in? Hypertech doesn't know when they can get me in on their dyno. thanks :seeya
