Default Help with hood re-install!!!!

Guys,
I had to remove my z-16 hood for some work and we thought we had the hinges marked on the car. We removed the hood and hinges off the car. I have since pretty much had to start over. If I get the sides lined up, the front is too high and bowed up. Or vice versa..... I have all 4 nuts loose with the hood closed right now and it looks good but how can I keep it where it is and tighten them. Also do I need to do this with hood supports on or off .....PLEASE HELP!!!! I am at the end of my wits with this hood.
Thanks
Steven

take hood supports off. Do it one side at a time. There are four adjustments on each side. The ones on the hood will adjust the height up and down and the ones on the frame will adjust side to side and forward and back. Use a board to hold it up. Just try to get it close. And then raise and lower it and adjust 2 nuts at a time on each side. Its a pita I know but after about 4 hrs of adjustment you will get close. And you will probably never get it perfect and it will bother you forever. haha Still fighting mine after 1 mon.

Will need at least one additional friend to help hold the hood and stop you from throwing evey tool you own into the neighbors yard

4 hrs is about right, 4 more hrs after you get it close to get it tolerable and then 4 more hrs to get it somewhat perfect (good enough) or "f" it up so bad you have to start all over. It's alot like tightening a bolt without a torque wrench.....one last pull will usually strip the bolt.

Stay with it, have patience and think it out. Remember you have us to keep you from losing your mind.....

As others have said no easy feat to do your self.

Get some Blue Painters tape and put on over the edges of the fenders and front to protect the paint.

I only tightened two of the four bolts on each side but not to tight so that I could maneuver the hood a little bit, if I needed to.

I first aligned the hood front edge where in meets the bumper and then work may around to adjust the hood height and then the side to side gap.

Might want to stuff a towel in the spot where the release switch is so that you don't have to keep running back and forth to release the hood.

I put on a Caravaggio Blower hood.
