Default Dead battery causing remote/lock failure?

I recently left my Vette in the garage too long, and she lost all charge. A quick jump start brought her back to life, but now none of the functions on my remote work. I tried replacing the battery in the remote, but it still does nothing. Any ideas?

I have experienced the same thing a few times (usually after winter storage). You should just have to 'reflash' the key fob.

Put it in the ignition and turn one click to 'acc'. While the key is in, hold in both the lock and unlock button on the fob for about four to five seconds. I *think* the horn makes a slight 'toot' when the fob has learned the car again.

Hope this helps!

The first thing you should try; just stand by the car and press the lock and unlock buttons at the same time. Key doesn't have to be in ignition. Press for about 10 seconds ( no more than 15 seconds) or until the horn beeps at you. That should reset the fob. You'll probably have to reset your seat postion, etc. Get in, close door, Turn key on, don't start, position seat where you want it, press and hold button on left armrest until it blinks.

You may want to invest in a battery tender. The Deltran battery tender Jr, is what I use all winter.

Yep!!! . You hit the procedure square on the head!! It should work after that!

Make SURE that you CHARGE the battery with a battery charger. Your alternator is not designed to charge the battery from a dead state. It is designed to maintain the charge. It will charge a dead battery but, it may shorten the life of the alternator if you do it a lot!!

Same thing happened to me. But I thought I would have to relearn the remotes instead of this flash procedure. The relearn is not that big of a deal, it only takes about a minute. But if you remove batteries from a remote, you have to relearn them both. Been there, done that.
