yes there are two fuses, one for each (the one in the console compartment), in front of the passenger side remove the floor mat, pull out on the toe board at the top (velcro) lift up and remove the panel under it is a fuse panel (it's covered too) check the two fuses) both mini 20 amp (yellow)

Might check to see if the lighter harness is clipped onto the lighter housing. Also, sometimes when installing the console, the lighter harness wires can be pinched/shorted by the self tapping attachment screw (lighter next to ashtray).

This happened to me when I first bought my car. Check the fuse with a DVM!!! Don't just look at it and assume it's good. I made that mistake. The fuse looked good, so I went to the dealer and ordered a new lighter recepticle, tore the dash apart to get at it, replaced everything and still no lighter.

Checked the fuse with the DVM and guess what?

Yea,,,I also had the plug pop of the back of the Cig receptical. Sux to have to rip the console apart just for that. The Volt ohm meter can be your friend!!!

Mine wouldn't stay clipped, so I removed it. It was a great location for my IPOD connection.

What else could be a cause when Ive tried fueses I know work, its plugged in good on the back and it was when the dash was removed so the screw wasnt doing it. I worked before i disconnected it, but after I connected it, it wont work now. Ive tried moving and reinstalling the clip on the back and it still wont work. Any sugestions?

Try the DVM and work backwards. Do you have voltage at the connector? Voltage at the fuse? Fuse good? It could be the recepticle.
Good ground?

My bet is the fuse

Just bought a new DVM but of course I have no 9v battery for it lol. The guy at Autozone suggestted if its a bad socket but the wires are powered, soldering it directly to the lighet socket and bypass the plastic socket thing. Might give it a try

My cell phone car charger has an issue with the cigarette lighter o n the vette. I have to twist and turn the charger to get it to work on my cigarette lighter. Seems the contacts don't stay in so well. Have you tried different devices?
