Default Replacing Window Regulator/Motor

Like many C5 owners, my passenger window motor is bad. Slamming the door, tapping on the motor, etc no longer work, so it's time to replace the motor assembly. It is not the control module.
Does anyone have that procedure documented? Can just the motor be removed or does the whole motor/regulator assembly have to be swapped out? I really don't want to have to pay a stealership to do this.

How do you know its not a bad wiring harness connector inside the rubber accordian tube between the door and the door frame??

They fails a LOT! Pop off the tube (it comes out easy) and examine the TWO connectors. I bet ya you will find a problem there! Look for bare wires and loose pins inside the connector. The large connector usually has the most issues.

Shake bend and twist the harness while your pressing the up/down buttons. Oh yea, make sure that all of your DTC's are cleared also.

I would love for it to be the wiring harness connector. The door lock works. Also, I hear a "click" coming from the control module inside the door. And it's not the control module because I swapped out the left side into the right and have same symptoms.

I also had the windowmotor/regulator go bad, it's not that diffucult to change. tried all the tricks, slammin the door tempoary fix.Just mark the window location on the regulator, bolts on bottom of door thru rubber plugs, unbolt reg. and motor and pull out of door. Reverse to put back together.

It's the motor. Swapping out the motor alone is not a big deal. Look on here for the procedure. It'll take a couple of hours the first time, including time to drink the three beer minimum.
