I have no codes. I noticed that when I came up to a stop I had to push on the brakes a little harder. I have an A4. After I set at a stop light for just a bit the idle will go down to normal but for a while it will high idle. It just started doing this. If I put it in park it doesn't seem to do it. Any ideas what this could be?
MY 98 dose the same thing ( it has 68,000 miles ). But the idle comes down fast after a sec when i'm stoped. It dose it the worse when I have the air on. It's been that way for some time now. I thought it might me a vacum leak... but checked out car and all is fine. Then I had read some were that this some times happen when the TB is dirty. So I took if off and yes it was dirty ( so I cleaned it ). But it still did the same thing. So I just live with it. I too would like to see what our CF members say on this one.
Idle Learn Procedure
Anytime the powertrain control module (PCM) or the battery is disconnected, the PCM loses power, or the PCM is reprogrammed, the PCMs learned idle position is lost. The engine idle is unstable when the learned idle position is lost.
Perform the following procedure in order to return the learned idle to the correct position:
Automatic Transmission
Turn OFF the ignition.
Restore the PCM battery feed.
Turn OFF the A/C controls.
Set the parking brake and block the drive wheels.
Start the engine.
Ensure that the engine coolant temperature is more than 80°C (176°F).
Shift the transmission into Drive.
Allow the engine to idle for 5 minutes.
Shift the transmission into Park.
Allow the engine to idle for 5 minutes.
Turn OFF the engine for 30 seconds.
Manual Transmission
Turn OFF the ignition.
Restore the PCM battery feed.
Turn OFF the A/C controls.
Set the parking brake and block the drive wheels.
Place the transmission in Neutral.
Start the engine.
Ensure that the engine coolant temperature is more than 80°C (176°F).
Allow the engine to idle for 5 minutes.
Turn OFF the engine for 30 seconds
I find that with my stick, if I am rolling and push in the clutch it will do this but once stopped the idle comes down. Not sure why either, but it may be the PCM programming and could also be weather related (colder weather). Might want to re-post in the tuning section and see if anyone there has any input.

Having exact same problem and it's driving me crazy! Guys please keep me posted if you find the cure!
Take a look at the PCV valve and rubber connection to the intake. Mine developed a hole on the bottom of the line that wasn't obvious at all. Caused high idle speeds and rough take offs from a stop.
Funny you should ask..well I know u port throttle bodies(cause I just bought 1 from ya). I was just at LG this morning and asked Sean if I needed to do any tuning when I install your ported TB and he said probably not, but sometimes the idle could get erratic in which case he would tune out some air I think is what he said.

really? i didn't know that a tune would change that. Mine wouldn't have anything to do with a tune because it has always been fine just till the other day. All of the sudden it wants to idle faster. I wonder if my ported MAF would have something to do with it?
