Yep, it happened to me. Was up getting the oil changed on my 04 commerative edition vette and a sharp eyed mechanic spotted "junk" under the fuel injection cover on the starboard (r.h. passenger side). We pulled it off and there was one fine mouse nest! The little rat, err uhh, mouse has chewed through a couple of the wires in the fuel injector harness. Apparently they think this is twigs - until they hit wire.
Anyone had to replace this before. Know where I can get a harness and how to put it in????
I called the dealer and he couldn't even give me a price - on anything!
Thats pretty funny Why don't you just solder the wires back together. I won't hurt anything if he just chewed through a few. As long as the connectors are good, just fix it.
I cut all the injector connectors on a friends car to wire in a low impedance driver. I ran all new wires soldered them all together and it ran great

My recommendation - Get your insurance to cover it. I've been there myself, except I had a whole damn family living in my car (that's insulation from my brand new water heater!)
LUCKILY they didn't do any damage. They chewed a small amount of isulation off a few wires down by the battery/PCM, but that's it. I IMMEDIATELY caught those f'ers, and fixed the garage so they couldn't get in again.
It's no fun. Sorry to hear about that. Check the wiring down by the battery also. You might have just scratched the surface.

I read somewhere that the insulation has a vegetable ingredient in it so they will be attracted to it. Take note, the mice leave a "pee" trail so if this one doesn't come back others will and you will have a heck of a time getting rid of them. I had an awful time with my wife's BMW and its a daily driver. I put lavender all over the hood pad and hung some lavender pot pouri under the hood in different places and they haven't appeared to have come back yet. Of course my BMW dealer thinks I am nuts, but oh well
Hmmm.... that's a pretty "funny" pic there. This guy had a pretty blue nest with nice cozy foam. Mine still runs fine. None of the wires were touching so we did put electrical tape around them. Still I'd like to get it back "right". Now, we're thinking we need to check the other cars!
They guy at the dealership said, this was actually a fairly common problem. I guess they like that warmth. But they must jump out when person fires it up! Damn turkeys!! Err mice I mean!
I wouldn't spend a lot of money replacing parts until you are sure they are gone. Took me two years to get them out of my attic, finally found the place they were coming in through the basement only because the cat was in the basement keeping an eye in a certain location. Drove me nuts trapping them every day, and the next day there would be more. All following the trail left by the first. What a pain
had a friend in west texas have that happen on a brand new dodge pick um up, twice, in 6 months, then has not happened since
Used to keep a oil ag tucked in by the battery on my 99 ram, Found the little f*@ker's nest in it befor he got to comfy. That was 6 months ago, maybe I need to have a closer look
I am a Master Jaguar Technician and right now I have an 04 XJR in my shop with major rodent damage! the insurance company just ok'ed me to install $11,000 worth of wiring and over 60 hours of labor
Weirdest thing we ever had happen was we had a rat making a nest in an airbox. Funny thing was we didnt realize it until the tech started the truck the following morning and the truck had idling problems. The tech hit the gas and something got sucked into the engine We found some furr and got an SES light, lol that was all aside from a little backfire. Gotta love those Vortec 350's Made itself into a rat motor
I was told mice and rats love the wires because of the electricity going through the wire, so if its chewing fuel injector wires, maybe he's cruising around with you...
Used to be a big problem with ABS systems, rats would chew up the wires.
I like poisoning them. Leave some food for the little SOB and see how long it takes for him to quit chewing wires. Only problem would be if he died in your car Get the pellets so he shares with his little friends.
Just had to have the the wiring to the ABS and Traction Control connector behind the right front wheel repaired thanks to one of these little buggers preparing for the winter. Chewed right through the only 1/8" of exposed wiring (the rest of the wiring is enclosed with black plastic sheething). Only cost us $166 to repair!!!!!
