Default Stock gaskets on Kooks???

Will the stock exhaust manifold gaskets fit on Kooks headers? BTW it's a 01z. If not where can I get the gaskets?
Also, will get car pass emissions with a full exhaust?
Thanks...

I used the F-body gasket,G.M. PN 12558573. It has round port openings, the Corvette gasket has oval port openings.

That's what I used as well and what shipped with my QTP headers when I bought them.

Ring up Brian at Scoggins/Dickey -problems doing this incorrectly are not worth it.

Thanks guys, I'll get that one.

What kind of problems do you mean? As far as installation?

Your headers should have come with a set of gaskets....or maybe you had to pay extra for a set? I can't remember. I got Kooks a couple of years ago.

You should be able to pass emissions with the high flow cats, as long as they don't knock you on the visual inspection.

I guess I'll try my luck with the emissions...

I got the F-body gaskets, but Irish Whiskey is saying that there could be problems with it. Can anyone else confirm this, or can I just put them on like regular gaskets?

I used the OEM gaskets and have not had any problems. Dyno tested and hot ******* - so far all is well. The OEM gasket is an oval hole vs the Kooks round hole. The felt / metal gaskets from Kooks are crap so I tossed them.

OK, I'm getting mixed responses now- F-body with the round holes and the OEM with the oval holes . I'm guessing both gaskets line up with the bolt holes.

The holes we are referring to are the head exhaust ports and the header tubes at the header flange. The heads - even the ported ones - are oval whereas the Kooks headers are round. The mounting bolt hole pattern is identical. The OEM gasket will stick out into the round Kooks header tube about 1/16" or a little more at the "corners" of the oval. After driving for a while the metal gasket protusion will mostly burn off and no worries. I would mount the OEM metal gasket and not look back.

Good luck.

Not trying to disagree with you, but since the OEM would stick out, would the F-body one be a better fit?

Either will work. A lot of guys use the F-body gaskets and have no complaints. Personally I have no preference. I had alreadu purchased my OEM gaskets and when the Kooks came in I decided to use what I had since the Kooks header gaskets are crap.
