I was on vacation in Destin,FL last week,and was hit with the empty fuel gauge problem and the dreaded column lock..After 45 minutes of jerking the steering wheel left and right,it finally unlocked..I've got to make an appointment with the dealer this week.. :mad

I feel your pain. Mine has been to the dealer 4 times for this. I'm on my 3rd drivers' side sending unit and 2nd passenger side sending unit. At Bowling Green on Labor Day, GM engineering said it was clean gas formulations leaving a residue, causing the guage to read intermittently. I don't like it when they pass the buck:
Fuel gauge doesn't work? Bad gas.
Oil consumption? You drive too aggressively.

I feel your pain my gauge reads 1/2 full until it is almost out then just drops to E well into the reserve :cry
I am due to drop it of soon, I know I will be without it for awhile :mad

My car is in the shop as we speak for this, at least I didn't run out of gas on some back road around here, I would have been :mad
