Looking at my car, it seems that one of these would physically fit to replace the factory bellows between the throttle body and the MAF. (I have a C6 now that replacd my C5). However, AEM only makes a 3" size and the throttle body and maf are over 4".
Has anyone tried to make one of these work, or does someone make a 4" version?
Very interesting, too bad I can't seem to find it available for anything larger than a 2 Liter 4 cylinder. For an LS1, the filter would have to be bigger... but how much bigger? It would still be nice to have this small one. Too short on air for a moment is better than a ton of water.
I'd be concerned that this wouldn't work for our engines ....
The "test rig" shows about a five foot long pipe, with about two feet of it being vertical, as the air intake. Most of our CAI systems are way shorter than that, and don't have much, if any, vertical lift.
With the high air flow requirements of our V8 engines, I'm pretty sure a mix of water and air would quickly get past this "filter" and you're right back where ya started, at least a reasonable chance of hydro-locking the engine. Our intakes have a high degree of "momentum" built into the air flow, Unless you've got SOMETHING in there to actually block the water, I'b be very leary of trusting that this device "solves" the problem .... might lower the chances ... but I'd still be very leary of getting ANY water into the intake system.

Yes I agree... I'd like to find a bigger one. Seems this would work in concept for our cars if we could find the right size...
Hmm. I wonder if Jeep/off road guys have something like this? Too bad I gave up my subscription to Peterson's Pickup and 4wd back in 1979! I'll do some looking over in that world when I get some time.
