Default ITS A cRaCked RADIATOR

So it took it to the dealer said it is a cracked radiator. i am in DC. They said $300 for the radiator $21 for fluid. $362 for labor this is to replace it.

I am okay with a wrench on a scale of 1-10 a 4.5 to a 5.5...

How hard is it to change a radiator out on the 98 c5, on a scale of 1-10

Any tricks i need to know about?

Also is there anyone in the washington DC area that can do this cheaper

About how long is the process?

Is it worth doing my self or let someone else do it.

you can do it - just takes some time - I'd estimate about 2 hours at most - simply remove the 4 10mm bolts that hold the upper cover in place, disconnect the hoses and tranny lines, and swear while you try and get it up - it can be done fairly easily, but plan to do it on a Saturday when you don't need your car -

As Eagle has posted, it is a fairly straight forward procedure. Make sure you purge all of the air out of the system as per the instructions.

not even a 6-pack job i pulled mine out to clean it, looked like the previous owner went 4-wheeling in a freshly cut hay field.

I've had mine out a few times for various reasons, you'll probably get a little wet but its not a big deal. NO WAY would I pay $362 for someone else to do it! Besides, you can clean everything off real good when you're in there, I'd bet you have a pretty good acumulation of leaves and crap sucked up in there that you don't even know about!

www.ls1howto.com has info on how to do it, look at the C5 heads and cam swap part and just do the stuff pertaining to the radiator! You didn't ask but I will mention you don't need to take the hood off, in case you were wondering.
