Call Passport with your 2+ year old one and ask if they will exchange it for their current model for $75. When your tired of their laughing, go buy a Valentine.
Well...as noted earlier, I have a Bell. It was a birthday gift. I hinted about a V1 and ended up with a Bell. I am cool with that. This past weekend, I made a quick over and back, one-day run of nearly 400 miles RT. I cruised at reasonable speed (or slightly above...I ain't tellin') with top down. On my way, I encountered two different LEOs and in both cases, my new Bell had cleverly sicced them on several "ricers"? I was impressed. One LEO even had 4 ricers pulled over in an apparent group session on safe driving?

I re-read my directions to the Bell and did not see where it could/would re-direct LEOs to other, more deserving prey...but, I am certainly appreciative. I am, however, curious why the Bell never once let me know there was any kind of electronic eyes out there???

Those arrows and overall high detection performance makes it a no brainer for the V1.

Default Beltronics STI driver

In the radarbusters 06 shootout the Bel was at the top of the list.

The STI driver is better than the one used in the shootout.

Unfortunately it costs more than the V1 which is a great unit itself.

I like being able to enable the display to give me the band and the frequency of the radar detected as well as the signal strength.

It is very programmable.I don't know how I ever lived without it.

Radartest.com is run by a guy named Craig Peterson who works for Bel and Escort so he bashes the V1 every chance he gets. He got busted trying to sabotage the Guysoflidar.com 2007 radar detector test and he will probably have to part with a couple thousand dollars on top of the $1000 radar gun that he hid under camoflauge on top of a mountain to throw off the testing.

That is some pretty damning evidence there.

There goes his consulting biz.

How incredibly stupid is that to leave evidence of yourself at the scene of the deed?! What an absolute moron. His agenda is now fully exposed and he has been officially defrocked (is that a word?)

Either that or somebody dug thru his trash and framed him. I guess that'll be his defense in small-claims court.

Somebody would have to dig through his trash and then be willing to give up a $1000 radar gun.

Bought the Valentine One for 120 mph commutes. Has saved me 1000's of dollars in speeding tickets, insurance increases, etc. Plus when you call Valentine One, to order, they have really funny recordings of Mike Valentine apologizing for having to hold on the line. It's worth every penny of the $500 or so price tag, and Valentine will continue to upgrade the technology of your current unit as time goes on.

When youre driving through an area with false ids (auto door openers and such in buildings, highway warning signs) its nice to have an arrow point to the direction so you can confirm its either necessary to slow down or not.

I have a Valentine 1. Id recommend that others buy one too. Though my dad had the high end passport, and it was almost as good. Buy the V1 because they'll upgrade it for a minimal cost, the arrows, and the fact that I can put a remote display on it and run it in black mode.

Radar detectors are legal everywhere but Virginia and D.C. Why use the remote display and run in black mode? I never understood why so many people do this who don't live in areas where detectors are illegal.

Dark mode is to keep people from using you as the rabbit when driving at high speeds. It also doesn't show possible thieves behind you that you have a Valentine One so they can follow you and steal it when you park your car. You also don't want cops to see it because that will increase the chances that you receive a ticket instead of geting out of one.
