I don't believe headers are only worth 8-10 hp, especially on a blown engine. I think 40 is more likely. However, a smaller pulley is probably more effective, and cheaper.
I have shorty's, because I had concerns with emmissions in CA. My tuner informed me that shortys are just for looks, compared to stock, they really have no performance gains. He also informed me the LT's would be good for 25+ RWHP.
The shorty's will pass emmissions in CA but the LT's won't.
I'm moving to NJ on Saturday and I'm getting LT's ASAP.

Long tube headers will give you more HP and TQ on any engine, stock or modded. The more mods you have, the more you will gain! These motors like to breathe! Shorties are a total waste of money IMO, the stock manifolds are just as good as shorties. Just do a search on headers, that should answer all your questions!

long or shorty headers what is the difference and will they both work well with my kenne bell 2001 C-5
Long tubes will work better, but as mentioned, are not smog-legal in CA. Unless you have a good shop who will overlook LTs on the inspection, or plan to remove them and go back to stock prior to inspection, don't go LT. Also, you might have trouble selling a car which won't pass inspection.
