I left my '97 in a neighbors garage for a few days and he said it smelled like gas at first. I put a fuel pressure gauge on it, 60psi at idle and 57 psi turned off. I checked back about 40 minutes later and still 57 and didn't see any fuel. This morning it was at zero. Is this normal, or is it leaking?
I just did a cam swap, but didn't touch the fuel rail, though I did bend the lines around going to/from the rail a bit.
That sounds normal to me, there's a check valve thats supposed to maintain fuel pressure in the line but I seriously doubt you can expect it to maintain pressure forever.

What smells like fuel?
Is it the car in general?
no puddles or stains, right?
My FPG will hold pressure for a short while then it will dwindle to 0.
He was just surprised that the garage smelled of gas, and didn't elaborate. I don't know if he sniffed around the car or not. I wonder if it's just unburnt fuel in the exhaust after idling into the garage.
_MY_ garage has a skanky 240sx all ripped apart right now and every morning the furnace blows _rank_ air into the house so I could have a dozen dead cats out there and would still only smell gas.
any unburned fuel will wipe out your cats. They are trying to catalyze exhaust gasses, and fuel in them after they light off will cause major problems with the core.
