krm_wi_c5, i also didn't get a chance to reply to your PM so i'll post the answers here:
i have not noticed any less light output from this mod. i have checked when the signals are flashing, driving lights on, and braking. the light level between the outter and inner bulbs looks the same to me.
i have not tried it on the inner lights. the fix that i got originally from suprfun said he did it on the outter light, so that's what i did and it works for me.
the replacement socket that i use is identical to the stock socket. just look at the socket and connect the same wire to the stock wire.
i hope this helps if you end up needing another solution.
Also, I have just installed switchback LEDs on my front driving lights (which are on ALL THE TIME) so load resistors won't work with them...the stock bulbs do.
Do the "switchbacks" run white and flash amber? I'd like to replace my number two fuse, removed to disable the drl's, and have drl's but they get so freakin hot!!!

they run white and flash amber when the parking or headlights are on.
when the parking or headlights are off, they are an amber DRL just like stock.
It seems that there is a small percentage that hyper flash. The new halo's have resistors built in, there was more of an issue before they were modified. I found out other things can cause the hyper flash, such as a poorly charged battery, a defective battery, a defective alternator, and worn out (but still working) drl bulbs. I think that people should install their new lights before worrying about the hyper flash. This fix is very simple, can be done in a matter of minutes. In the case of my car, the hyper flash was caused by not enough resistance. My flasher thought there was a burned out turn signal bulb. By adding the resistor, or the set up listed above from jdmvette, the flasher should work properly.
I had hyperflash that was intermittent, after a while I noticed it was after either cleaning out the interior (with the interior bulbs blazing) or some other longer drain on my battery...replaced the battery with a new Sears Platinum AGM Battery....ever since..No Hyperflash...

When I was having the hyperflash problem, I did find out that a weak battery was a possible cause for the hyperflash. I had my battery checked, it was ok.
