Now THAT's near the top of the list of longest-lasting AC Delcos! May I too, can get another 1 year+ from my AGM!

You should replace the original delco battery especially on a 00 model

The battery post will break off over time and you will have a big mess all over your wires from the battery acid.

Happened to many here already

My rule of thumb is 5 years whether it needs it or not.

If you get 6 years, you've done good.

Go to Wallmart and get their 7 year battery- free replacement for 3 years and then pro rated. $63 There is always a Wallmart nearby if you need a replacement. And the best part is you just take the battery in to the service desk and the transaction is handled there. No having to have it tested, recharged, etc.

Been using them on all my cars and boats.

Unless the Walmart ones are Spiral Wound Glass Matt like the Orbital, AC or the Optima, it will leak and eat the the wiring harness under the batt tray. Thats why everyone is having to use these expensive batteries. Mine went last week, no warning, just went. Luckily I was at home; replaced with an Exide Orbital.

If using a standard led-acid battery, just drop an acid aborption mat under the battery and keep an eye on it. I do know that AC Delco has redesigned their battery cases to eliminate the cracking that had occured near the side terminals.

It is sort of hard to get a jump out in the mojave desert on the way to Vegas. I like to be pro active on this sort of stuff. I will let others set these records.
