Default What to do next

The car currently has a vararam and a corsa x-pipe/catback.

Im hesitant on getting long tubes because I'm trying to keep the noise down. I was looking into the ls6 stock intake manifold. What would you do next for less than $1000

ls6 intake will be a waste of money. What are you trying to do with the car ? Just trowing a grand at the car dosen't make sense unless you have a long term plan. What's your plan?

LT headers will not make the car that loud. I really did not notice that big of a difference in volume after my install. Seriously, I would go with the LT's. The manifold is ok, but its potential will not be seen w/o the headers.

My goal is to get it to go 12.99 or faster in the 1/4 while maintaining as much daily drivability(if thats a word) as possible

not sure what your capable of doing yourself, but for $1k. I would get a cam, pull the heads off, have a machine shop bowl port them. That would be close.
Cam & springs - $500ish
Bowl porting - $40 (for a V8 at machine shops by me)
Dyno tune - $400.

Sell old cam and springs on ebay for $100. it is a "corvette" cam

Leave stock intake. Exh manifolds will be ok also.
My friends LS1 formula went 12.2 stock intake and exh manifolds. had a yank SS3800 and a 224/224 .580 cam

im new to pushrods and only having 1 cam. I come from working on cars with 2-4 cams where it was a scary day when you had to remove a head. Id deffinately have to look into whats involved in doing a cam/springs, but I would like to assume that I could do it at home.

What is a good cam for a mostly stock car with just some bolt-ons?

Also, what would this do to driveability (I hear certain cams make it a pain to get going from a stop) and gas mileage?

this is too simple

put a shifter in the car
get a LS7 clutch installed
get some good drag radials
get a wet Spray Kit

and go have some fun

Youd almost have to put a converter in it to take advantage of a decent size cam. I have a LGM G5 cam in my TA its like 224/230 .580/.570 112 and being a 6spd and 3.23 gears it has quite a bit of low end torque, something you'll need to take into consideration for having those high gears you got.

Cam. If you're dead-set against headers, you can get a cam with much greater exhaust duration and keep the stock exhaust manifolds.

By the way, with a stock m6 you should be able to run 12.99 all day long. Practicing launch technique is free.

The TR CheaTR cam would be a good choice for power + drivability with stock manifolds. Broad Powerband, 214/230, aggressive lobes.

I have the Corsa Pace and just did H/C and AR headers with off road x pipe and on the highway at 70-80 mph,6th gear,1,500-1,800 rpms I think the tires still make more noise than the exhaust.I have a Comp. cam #54-444-11 224/230 .581/.588 114 +2 I think it takes off as smooth as stock.I would start with headers, anything you do later other than maybe a turbo will like them.

If you would consider increasing your budget by another G you could put some 4.10's and a nice shifter and you will be very happy with the results.

Just to give you a sound reference, this is with LTs, highflow Cats, X Pipe and Corsa Paces...

It really isn't much louder then what you have now, alot less pop and gurgle on decel. But at WOT it sounds pretty damn good!

FWIW The LTs are the infamous EBay Headers and the price may get you off the fence about LTs...
