Default Starter Selenoid???

So can you just replace the starter selenoid? I can't find a procedure in the service manuals. I only see a procedure for replacing the starter. Is the selenoid attached to the starter? I also have not been able to find a part # for the selenoid. Any help here would be greatly appreciated.

In the 97 Service Manual they give instructions to replace the Starter Solenoid in one of the diagnostics but do not provide any links on how to replace it. In the 1998 and later manuals they give instructions to replace the starter to repair the same failure. Based on what looks like an obvious correction in the manual you might have to replace the whole assembly. It may be that GM doesn't source the individual parts (like they don't source ball joints just the complete control arm) but you may be able to find a replacement market solenoid.

From the amount of work it looks like it takes to get to the solenoid and starter you might as well just replace them both. It also appears that you have to remove the starter in order to get to the solenoid anyways. I am just going to replace both.
