Shifter button won't unlock.
I have an interment problem with my shifter. It is a 98 automatic. Sometimes when I push the button down [ with the brake on ] it will not unlock the shifter. I have to keep pushing it down and working it to get it to release. Any ideas?

I have a 98 auto as well and was having the same problem.. I don't know WHY but when I took the button off (it's just clipped on) to clean the **** and reinstalled it... I stopped having the problem... I'm thinking something just got mis-aligned or something but it's been over a year since it didn't release on the first try and I haven't had to wiggle the darn thing around either...
