Tail light Socket help
Happy Easter!
I just got a replacement tail light socket that has three wires (White, Black, and Brown). I have the second export light harness so the wiring harness in the car has two wires (White and Black). What do I do? Do I only need to connect the two wires (White and Black) or do all three wires need connecting?
Thanks for any help.

Sounds like you have a dual filament socket to replace a single. You should still be able to use it, just use the hi or low side and tape off the other. Or, buy a single.
Edit - Have you tried inserting your existing bulb in the replacement socket? If I am right, it won't fit. You will need a dual filament bulb to use it too.

I think your right. The bulb that I installed is a dual filament bulb. When I installed the harness i tied the white to the white and I tied the brown and black wires from the new socket to the black wire from the car. Have I created a direct ground or are the circuits in the socket isolated from each other?
Sounds like you grounded one of the hot leads so only one of the filaments will work (assuming brown is hot). Black SHOULD be your ground. So, now the question.....which light does this socket replace? Brake or running light or both?
Edit again.....At this point, you should just wire the ground (alone), turn on your parking lights or flashers (depending on which one it is) and then connect each one of the hot leads to see which is appropriate to match the other three lights. One side should match, the other just tape it up and out of the way. Hope this helps!
