Hi,
I just installed b&m shifter and took a test drive. I heard some rattle noise when it's in 2nd, 3rd and 4th gear. I used to stock ****. This only happen when I accellerate. please addvise.
i have the ripper and didnt get any strange noises after, check to see that all nuts and bolts are tight and did you reinstall the factory boot that goes inder the leather top booty? it insulates some noise that is sestemic in the Vette drivetrain, like the marble sound and the noisy throwout bearing(6sp) very annoying and really unacceptable in a supposed "world class sports car" but i wont get into that anyfurther for now. See Ya Rob.
The stock **** jiggles a little because it's a little loose on the shifter. Eventually I will be investing in a Momo. It supposedly goes away after that.
Put some tape on the threads and the loosness of the **** should go away. Try filling the top with foam or silicone to quiet it even more. I added some stick-on tire weights to the ripper shaft and that took care of the rattle for me. I still have the stock ****, and all is quiet. I got my stick-on tire weights at Pep Boys.
Just want to confirm that the stick on tire weights on the shaft take out the vibration when using a stock ****. Love the ripper, best mod for the money if you like to shift. Ed
no not fix a flat, he's talking abount the balance weights that are used on the wheels to balance them. A lot of us use the stick on type so they wont scar or scratch our chrome rims. :D
