With respect to C5's
Im assuming that if you have a system with the "old filter" ie gray.. then it the older design..correct?
Will the new K&N filter work in the older design?
The filter is not a "K&N' filter - just similar to it. We have it manufactured specifically for the C5 unit. As long as you don't have the older units with the screw down top - then the gray flat panel filter will fit. Any questions on filters please call me at 866-507-2648
Thanks
Steve

I was 1. trying to determine if the system Im using is a newer version or older.
2. I understand that the gray will fit thats what Im using...I was trying to determine if your "In house" K&N like filter will fit the older design
i was told this weekend that the filter oils will damage the MAF sensor....
Anyone have any input on this???
i have been getting a p1514 code and the car goes into limited power since installing a honker with the ' you guessed it, an oil based filter '. i talked to a vette tech last night and he told me that the oil based filters will coat the fine wires in the maf and throw codes. use some throttle body or brake cleaner and spray both sides and either let air dry or carefully use compressed air from a distance. i am going to do this this evening and if everything clears up, have my maf parameter re-programmed.
I oiled my filter with K&N oil, since it seems that it is the kind of filter supplied with the new Vararams. I took the car out Sunday for a cruise, with the Northeast members, and it ran great. Since this is my only performance mod, I was surprised that I could keep up with everyone else. Another member even commented that he was a bit surprised to see me staying with the "more spirited drivers" when we were at wot getting on to a few highways. I'm pleased.

I will go back to some of my initial thoughts about the Vararam.
#1 Why are the instructions so vague?
#2 If Cajundude can post really helpful instructions, why don't you include them with the product?
#3Why don't you tell people to oil the filter in the instructions? If it wasn't for this post, I never would have done it, and it would have been bad for my vette.
Yes, it does work, but come on now. This is a product that has been around for a while. It's a "next generation model".Why am I asking questions, and why are other members still in the dark about things in respect to it?
