Seeing as there has never been a true side by side comparison, hard to tell. I would think a swap to one of the more touted setups would net minimal gain.
A correctly tuned Tri-Y header is preferred by a lot of the road race guys and there a lot of good articles on them. After all the reading I did, I selected the Tri-Y design over the more traditional 4-1 design realizing I "might" have given up a few ponies up top (not fully convinced of this) but also may have gained a more favorable mid-RPM torque curve. The only down side to the Bassani's is they are not stainless (one reason I went with the QTP's) and there is a joint in the pipes (QTP's are one piece).

Very good reading. I have a set of Bassani headers on now and I'm happy with them...but the guy who tunned my car said they weren't the best and because of clamps that they leak...so far I have no leaks.
Of course he wanted to order a set of American Racing headers to gain more HP, but I think I'll stick with the Bassani until they wear out.
Again thanks for you much needed input...

You're splittin' hairs. It sounds like the American Racing Headers are the best ones out right now. If I was buying a new set that is what I would get, but they aren't going to give you more than 5-7 hp max. That just isn't worth $2000. At that price you might want to start looking into a carb legal supercharger. Good luck
Pros and cons about Bassani long tube headers as far as performance?
I 'm using Bassani Headers, excellent mid range under the curve horsepower. Most of the long tubes tend to create more HP at the upper RPM's. I have know leaks either and they come ceramic coated. The sound is great! Just my humble opinion.
I know this thread is dead, but mine leak. There is no point in having the joints on the headers...because when they are installed you cant even tighten the clamps that hold the joint together. I will have to pull off the header to put copper gasket on the sleeve joint, then tighten and reinstall.......why not just have one solid header 4-1. Also I have ceramic coating, but have surface rust on them (and it has not been grinded on or any other metal sitting on them). Not a very happy customer...called Bassani and they told me just keep applying the copper gasket sealant......No problem, I will just pull the headers off every year to do that.....waste of time. Ok im done ranting.
I've seen one in person on a C5 in the shop on a lift.
The x-pipe had stock cats welded on, and the thought of multiple pipes on the primaries seemed like a stupid idea if you were to own the car for decades. Overall I thought it was the worst cluster f*** I'd ever seen.
The owner was getting Kooks installed. I could have bought that used set-up for a steal but I passed.
