same point a as chrome billet shift **** - you still have to move the stick. MAY BE NEAT!
What??? I think the biggest plus to the push button is no more pellet key to screw up. Adding this to a C5 would be a monumental waste of time since without removing the old key cylinder, your not doing anything. The new system sense the key fob close and allows you to start without a key at all.
I would think that someone who is slick with electronics (Bill Curlee?) would be able to wire in the proximity part of your 1997-1999 Fob so that when the car unlocks, it also triggers the ignition to turn on...then all you'd have to do is push the button to start the car. You'd have to wire something else up to shut the car down though when you were done (momentary pushbutton or somethign for the ignition relay). It honestly doesn't sound like something beyond the ability of a novice electrical engineer....
With as much hassle as the security system is on the C5, I still do not see the upside to this. Seems like your asking for a giant pain in the rear for little or no upside. Maybe put the old floor push button like they had in the really OLD days-that would be
Push button start went out in the 1940s. Why bring it back. I really don't see the "cool" factor. What next, a hand crank capability like in the 1930s or running boards. I really don't get this retro thing.

Might as well bring back the floor-mounted hi-beam switch, too.
Seriously, though, I'm in the "it's not worth the trouble" camp. But the fun thing about modding is doing something different to make your car unique. So if someone wants to give it a try I think it would be interesting to watch the progress...
I honestly think the floor high beams made WAY more sense than this turn stalk BS. Firstly you don't have to take your hands off the wheel to change high beams, your left foot is usually idle while cruising anyway. Secondly, most cars have "high beams forward" on that stalk so its hard to use your directional signals when high beams are on! If you're in front of everyone on the highway, this is a PITA!
