The problem (especially with the stick shift cars) was hitting the high beams all the time when the button was on the floor. I was doing it all the time with the 69' Vette since I'd hit it sometimes using the clutch. It was alway a place to ROT on the floor too-I like the stalk.
The push button start will not shut down but goes into accessory mode then have to exit car with the manual latch on the floor. Anyone else have issues with the push button start. I only have 5000 miles on this car and the battery was just replaced with OEM battery. I am frustrated.
Incredible waste of time, even though it shouldn't cost too much. I've got the keyless ignition in my wife's new EDGE Sport, and though you just have to have the fob on your person to start, it's still a PITA to dig out the fob to open the doors/hatch, and then remember to stick the fob back in your pocket before getting in the car. I just don't see where this is a feature that adds anything functional.

This is a five year old thread you revived so it will likely be locked very soon.
Also, you have a 2006 C6 corvette. You should post over in the C6 tech section. Run a search to see if someone else has had your issue before and if you can't find what you need start your own thread. Don't revive a really old one as the mods will just lock it.
